It was late at night. Danica, Mariano and Daena had a mission to tell a VERY persistent ghost to leave the forest they were currently in. Due to the fact that Daena had asked (read: begged) to at least camp there one night before actually starting the mission. Mariano had agreed, and Danica followed later ("only because we rarely get days off").
After having set up three tents and making a small campfire Daena started to feel energetic. "I can't even remember the last time we did stuff like this~!" she said loudly. "Volume" Danica snarled at her "We're not at the other side of the forest, so you can at least try not to scream!". "Well sorry for being excited!" Daena said "it's just been so long since we could do stuff as friends!". "I have to agree with that" Mariano said "It's really been a while. Ever since we got so errrr..........."populair" we hardly got any free time.". "Populair? more like famous!" Daena exclaimed cheerfully. "Whatever" Danica said annoyed "I still wonder how someone like YOU ended up being a medium who is pretty much the BEST at summoning". "It fits my personality" Daena said teasing "Both the living and the dead flock around my cheerfull and bright personality~!". "W-well" Mariano said, wrapping his arms around Danica before she could attack Daena "Some spirits prefer calmth, and you're ANYTHING but calm". Daena shrugged and said: "Don't care, I'm still awesome".
"Still" Danica said, after having calmed down "How did you discover your ability?". "The same way you did~!" Daena said smiling, before noticing her two companions wanted to know more. Daena sighed and said: "Okay, i'll tell you the story...."
"I was in a forest, much like this one. It was late, like now. I was wearing a hoodie and my special necklace. An old lady who lived next to me told me that that necklace would protect me against demons. No thieves, ghosts, reapers or even perverts could scare me. For short: I was an idiot. I found a lake the previous day, and wanted to watch the fireflies hover above it at night. I didn't notice that i wasn't alone. I only noticed after it was far too late, and i way at a place where no one could hear me scream, even if they were in that forest. I suddenly felt someone grab my arm and trow me against a tree with almost inhuman strenght. I hit the tree with my back and for a moment i could only see white. When my vision returned to normal i could see two piercing green eyes look into mine. I did a quick scan of those eyes: No pupil and only a slight diffrence in color. I realised it wasn't a living person, unless they wore special contact lenses. That was the first thing i asked: If they wore contacts. That thing (at that time i didn't know it was a demon) laughed a very sinster and hollow sounding laugh. "If they sell contacts like this" It said "I would buy them in a heartbeat. Sadly for you that's not the case."
I started to panick. Back then i didn't know anything about life after death, so I was just guessing this was a spirit who wanted me to leave. "I-i'll leave!" I said "I-i won't come here again, promise!". "Oh.....but it's far too late for you to say that" The demon said "I'm not some innocent spirit, and i'm most definately not going to let you leave". Somehow that gave me a courage boost, and i grabbed my necklace while saying: "I-i'm not afraid of evil ghosts like you! This necklace'll protect me!". The demon looked at me as if i had grown a second head for a few seconds, before bursting into laughter. I was feeling really confused, what had i said wrong? "y-you humans" The demon said suddenly calming down "Are the most naive, stupid and hopeless creatures ever.". The demon wrapped her hand around mine, and i felt as if my hand was on fire. I quickly pulled my hand back, letting go of my necklace (than god it was still around my neck, if it wasn't i would've died there). The demon looked at my necklace and said: "ah, so this is how the goddess wants to protect the humans...." before looking straight at me. "W-what are you?!" I asked, while tears started to form. The demon smirked before leaning closer and whispering in my ear: "I'm your worst fear. I'm Voca, the demon of Starlit forest."
I gasped and tried to run away, only to find i couldn't move. I was literally paralyzed with fear. I tried to call out for help, but i couldn't do that either. Why wasn't my necklace working?!
As on cue the demon named Voca tore the necklace of my neck. "This only protects you against poltergeist" She said "Not against any REAL evil beings like me". I could hear the metal of my necklace bending when Voca looked at it with an insane look of amusement.
"Now, medium. Why don't you try to fight me?"
